GREENWOOD – Zamiya Passmore has earned Peach Belt Conference of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday. It’s the second-career weekly honor for Passmore and the 43rd all-time for Lander women’s basketball.
Passmore becomes the first Bearcat to win PBC Player of the Week honors in both her freshman and sophomore seasons. The Bearcats have won 22 weekly honors in the last five seasons, the most of any team in the league.
Passmore earned the weekly accolade on the heels of No. 13 Lander’s three wins during the new year. The sophomore had a dominant offensive performance in the Bearcats’ win against No. 23 Belmont Abbey (Jan. 2), scoring a career-high 30 points on 10-for-19 shooting. She followed that performance by playing all 40 minutes and tying a season-high with six assists in a win at Georgia Southwestern (Jan. 6). She also netted 14 points in just 21 minutes of play in a victory over Clayton State (Jan. 9).
The Locust Grove, Ga., native leads the conference with 5.3 assists per game and is ninth in the league with 15.8 points per game.
Passmore has helped guide Lander a 4-0 start this season, the program’s best start since 2010-11. The Bearcats host Francis Marion in Finis Horne Arena on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.
