BLUFFTON, S.C. – Following a COVID-shortened 2020 season and a new head coach (Ted Falkner), USCB baseball officially announced its 2021 schedule, which features 47 games and commences on Jan. 30 versus Milligan.
The Sand Sharks will face nine non-conference teams and eight conference squads. Of the 47 games, 25 will be road contests and 22 will be held inside Richard Gray Stadium.
Kicking off the 2021 season will be a pair of non-conference tilts versus Milligan on Jan. 30. The two clubs will play at Columbia International’s field for a pair of seven-inning games at CIU Baseball Field.
The Sand Sharks will end the six-game road stretch to open the season with four games at Mid-Atlantic Christian on Feb. 5-6. USCB and MACU squared off last year to open the 2020 season, and the Sand Sharks shut out the Mustangs, 6-0.
USCB will open its home schedule on Feb. 9 with a non-conference contest with CIU. It will be a single, nine-inning game and will start at 1 p.m. at Richard Gray Stadium. The Sand Sharks and Rams met twice last season and split the doubleheader in Hardeeville. USCB took game one, 3-1, but slipped in the night cap.
The Sand Sharks will then open Sun Conference action on the road, as they travel to Florida Memorial on Feb. 12-13. Ironically, USCB and FMU opened league play last year, as the Lions took the series, 2-1.
USCB will then play four consecutive games at home versus St. Andrews and St. Thomas. SAU will be a nine-inning contest on Feb. 16, and STU will be a three-game league series at Richard Gray Stadium.
After playing six league games in eight days, USCB will play seven straight non-conference games from Feb. 23-March 16. Opening that stretch is a doubleheader versus Edward Waters on Feb. 23. The Sand Sharks will then play nine-inning games against Florida National and Columbia International on March 2 and 3, respectively. USCB will then face off against Middle Georgia on the road on March 9, and will conclude the non-conference stretch on March 16 against Bryant & Stratton in Hardeeville.
The Sand Sharks will return to league play against Keiser on March 19-20, as the three-game TSC series will be held in West Palm Beach, Fla.
USCB will be home heavy for the next 18 games, as 14 will be hosted in Hardeeville. Kicking off that stretch will be a non-conference tilt with MGSU on March 23. USCB will then host a three-game series with Warner on March 26-27 followed by two seven-inning contests versus Brewton-Parker on March 30. Christening the month of April will be another Sun Conference series, as USCB will travel to Thomas from April 2-3. Following a week of rest, USCB and No. 1 Southeastern will face off at Richard Gray Stadium on April 9-10. Sandwiched between Southeastern and Ave Maria is a road contest against St. Andrews on April 13. In the final home league series of 2021, USCB and Ave Maria will face off on April 16-17, and to conclude the home-heavy, 18-game stretch will be a doubleheader versus Edward Waters on April 20 at Richard Gray Stadium.
The Sand Shark squad will end the regular season with five road games. In the final TSC series of the year, USCB will travel to Babson Park, Fla. to take on Webber International on April 23-24. Concluding the regular season will be a road, non-conference doubleheader with Brewton-Parker on April 27.
The Sun Conference Tournament will be held at FITTEAM Ballpark (Spring Training facility for the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals) in West Palm Beach, Fla. The four-day, double-elimination tournament begins on May 6 with the championship game being played on May 9. To view the complete 2021 schedule, click HERE.
