2021 Providence Day School (Charlotte, NC) QB, Jake Helfrich (5’11” 190lbs) announced his commitment to South Carolina via social media on Friday. Helfrich who threw for 1,275 yards and 11 touchdowns, and rushed for 3 touchdowns this past year is set to join the South Carolina football team as a preferred walk-on.
Helfrich, at the time of his commitment, had scholarship offers from Eastern Michigan and Pennsylvania, and a preferred walk-own offer from Coastal Carolina.
Helfrich joins a quarterback room at South Carolina that currently has two scholarship players on the roster in freshmen Luke Doty and Colten Gauthier, as well a walk-on Connor Jordon.
