Greenville, SC – The Greenville Drive offense came to life on Wednesday night by cracking four home runs, and the pitching did its part as well in a 6-1 victory over the Rome Braves at Fluor Field.  With the victory, the Drive have now won seven straight.

Santiago Espinal’s torrid second half continued right away, as the Drive (36-29, 77-57) leadoff man smacked a solo homer in the first off Bryse Wilson (10-7) to stake the home team to an early lead.

Rome (33-31, 71-63) managed to tie the game in the fifth inning on a Riley Delgado sacrifice fly, but that tie was short-lived, as Tucker Tubbs put the Drive back ahead with a solo homer down the left field line.

The Drive’s game of powerball continued in the seventh, as Bobby Dalbec got in on the action with a solo homer of his own, giving him 11 on the season.  After a single by Jerry Downs, Tubbs crushed his second home run of the night, a two-run shot into the visitor’s bullpen in right-center, to extend the lead.

Bryan Mata (5-6) earned the win for Greenville by scattering six hits over six innings while allowing just one run and striking out seven.  Lukas Young and Juan Florentino combined to hold the Braves scoreless in the final three innings.

Ryan Scott gave the Drive an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth, as his RBI triple to right-center scored Roldani Baldwin, who led off with a double.

Tubbs’ two homers highlighted his 3-4, three RBI effort, while Espinal collected three hits as well to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

The Drive will play the final game of the regular season at Fluor Field on Thursday at 7:05 PM.  A win on Thursday gives the Drive 78 victories on the year, which would match the franchise record set in 2011.  Right-hander Hildemaro Requena (10-3, 2.12) starts on the mound for the Drive as they go for a series sweep, and the Braves will counter with right-hander Alan Rangel (2-5, 4.26).
