NORMAN, Okla. – The Wofford men’s golf program was named a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Academic Team, as announced by the association on Wednesday.
Wofford joined a list of 102 NCAA Division 1 men’s golf teams to earn the GCAA All-Academic Team Award. To be eligible, a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year, and carry a minimum team GPA of 3.0. The Terriers made the list by posting a team GPA of 3.05 in the 2016-17 academic year.
Wofford received the honor for the first time since the 2013-14 season. The Southern Conference was represented by four schools as ETSU, Samford and UNCG joined Wofford on the list.
Georgia State was named Division 1 Academic National Champions, boasting the highest team GPA (3.85) of all NCAA programs, regardless of Division.
Thirty nine teams received the President’s Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better.
