Greenville, SC – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (23-18-4-1), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced today that forward Brandon Alderson has been returned to the Swamp Rabbits by the Syracuse Crunch. Alderson played eight games in the AHL for Syracuse while on loan. Additionally, the Swamp Rabbits have added Ryan de Melo from the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (SPHL) as an emergency back-up goaltender.

Alderson earned his second call up of the season and sixth of his pro career on January 16th. At the time of his call up, Alderson was tied for the team lead with 11 goals and ranked third on the team in scoring with 22 points (11G, 11A). The Oakville, ON native recorded a point in 11 straight games (8G, 10A) from November 13th to January 11th, a career best and the longest streak of the season for Greenville. His seven multi-point games are the second most on the team.

The fourth-year pro began his career in the AHL with the Adirondack Phantoms and has compiled 144 AHL games since his rookie season. In those contests, Alderson earned 32 points (17G, 15A). He made his ECHL debut on November 28th, 2014 with Reading against Greenville. Alderson has compiled 64 points (29G, 35A) in 96 ECHL games after earning an assist in his debut.

The OHL product from Sault Ste. Marie is four points away from 100 (46G, 50A) in his professional career, earning his last three points against the Atlanta Gladiators on January 11th. Alderson was part of two different Kelly Cup Playoff runs with Reading. Last season, he led the team with eight goals in 14 playoff games and ranked second on the team with 12 points (8G, 4A).

Greenville’s 6-foot-4 right shot winger returns to the Swamp Rabbits ahead of tomorrow night’s contest in Norfolk, VA. Alderson carries a seven-game road scoring streak (6G, 4A) into the contest. Since the Swamp Rabbits topped Norfolk on October 19th, Alderson has earned a point in every road game in which he has played. He also netted the game-winning goal against the Admirals that night.

After tomorrow’s 7 p.m. road game in Norfolk, Alderson and the Swamp Rabbits return to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena for two games against the Orlando Solar Bears. Friday’s Stick-It-To-Cancer Game and Saturday’s Scout Night both begin at 7 p.m.
